Programme of Excellence

Programme of Excellence

To further basic research, the University of Copenhagen has set up a Programme of Excellence through which researchers have been able to apply for up to DK five million annually for up to five years for research projects in existing or new scientific areas.

The applications were to be directed at one of the University's eight faculties.

Opening November, the Rector's Office has finished evaluating the incoming applications for the Excellence Programme.

On 1 June 2007, the faculties received a total of 111 applications, of which eight came from researchers from other Danish and international universities.

The deans organised the academic evaluation of all applications. Based on these assessments the deans selected 48 applications which the Rector's Office received on 14 September 2007.

On 29 October, 10 independent, international adjudicators with wide-ranging academic knowledge met in Copenhagen for a two-day seminar, hosted by the Rector's Office, on which they went through the applications. Based on their advising, the Rector's Office has decided to approve 20 applications that will receive funding through the Excellence Programme.
